March 27th, 2026 – SUBJECT: Commissioner Position Vacancy
The Bloomington Board of Election Commissioners will have a commissioner position vacancy effective April 30, 2026, or sooner if filled. The successful candidate will be appointed for a term, expiring on December 31, 2027, with successive terms of three years.
All interested applicants should send a letter of interest to Judge Rebecca Foley,c/o City of Bloomington Board of Election Commissioners, 121 N. Main St., Bloomington, IL 61701. All letters must be postmarked by April 10, 2026 for consideration.
Qualifications to serve as a commissioner:
· Must be a resident of the State of Illinois for the last two years
· Must be a legally registered voter and reside in the City of Bloomington
· Must be a person of well-known political convictions (verified by voting history)
· Must be a person of integrity and capacity
· Must not hold any other political office
· Must be available to attend monthly board meetings, elections, and other necessary commission functions.
This position must be filled by a Republican, as both major political parties must be represented on the Board. The charge of the Bloomington Election Commission is to conduct elections in a transparent, accurate, fair and non-partisan manner.
