January 9th, 2026 – SUBJECT: Commissioner Position Vacancy
The Bloomington Board of Election Commissioners will have a commissioner position vacancy effective immediately. The successful candidate will be appointed for a three-year term, expiring on December 31, 2028.
All interested applicants should send a letter of interest to Judge Rebecca Foley,c/o City of Bloomington Board of Election Commissioners, 121 N. Main St., Bloomington, IL 61701. All letters must be postmarked by February 1, 2026 for consideration.
All applicants must contact the Election Commission Executive Director to schedule a meeting to discuss the duties and responsibilities of a Commissioner and attend at least one Election Commission board meeting.
Qualifications to serve as a commissioner:
· Must be a resident of the State of Illinois for the last two years
· Must be a legally registered voter and reside in the City of Bloomington
· Must be a person of well-known political convictions (verified by voting history)
· Must be a person of integrity and capacity
· Must not hold any other political office
· Must be available to attend monthly board meetings, elections, and other necessary commission functions.
As both major political parties are currently represented on the board, this position may be filled by a person of any political affiliation. The charge of the Bloomington Election Commission is to conduct elections in a transparent, accurate, fair and non-partisan manner.
